SAN FRANCISCO and VICTORIA, British Columbia, May 01, 2018 --
Sendwithus, the company behind the cloud-based communications management platform Dyspatch, today shared the results of its survey on the top email challenges facing Enterprise project managers. The survey of more than 400 top Enterprise organizations, including Verizon, John Deere, Ford, and Cigna, revealed that 85 percent ranked centralizing responsibility for their email security, compliance, and brand consistency a top priority.

“Project managers responsible for email face significant hurdles as efforts to improve the Customer Experience continue to evolve. They are collaborating cross-functionally with a greater number of departments while relying on limited developer resources, resulting in an increasing number of non-technical staff taking responsibility for transactional email,” said Matt Harris, co-founder and CEO of Sendwithus. “Our survey data overwhelmingly shows that project managers recognize where their priorities lie but clearly lack the resources they need to create and execute strategic, meaningful email campaigns in an efficient and streamlined manner.”
In addition to streamlining email management, simplifying the creation and revision of emails to reduce dependence on developers is a significant goal for project managers, with 73 percent of those surveyed indicating that doing so is very/extremely important. Project managers also identified issues around collaboration as a key challenge hindering email development and management. Improving cross-functional collaboration was viewed as very/extremely important by 88 percent of respondents. Allowing non-technical users — such as product managers, marketers, copywriters — the ability to easily collaborate with developers on the creation and revision of email is understood by survey respondents as the most efficient way to ensure all customer communications are consistently and effectively optimized.
Other significant findings from the survey include:
- New responsibilities and GDPR bring security top of mind - 79 percent of respondents ranked improving security by separating the functions of email creation and email distribution as very/extremely important.
- Project managers want more say - More than one in four registered dissatisfaction with their level of decision making authority.
- Deeper insights needed – Establishing or improving audit logs / revision history to increase workflow visibility was ranked as very or extremely important for 78 percent of survey respondents.
The survey was completed in February, 2018. Survey results are available at www.dyspatch.io/resources/project-management-survey.
