Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis and North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui discussed restarting political dialogue in Pyongyang, with regional security on the agenda as Switzerland reopened its diplomatic office.

Cassis said in a post on X that the ministers discussed returning to more regular political ties and renewing dialogue. He added that the conversation covered security on the Korean Peninsula and concerns across Eurasia.

Reuters reported that the Pyongyang office began operating Oct. 19 and reports to Switzerland’s embassy in Beijing. The embassy remains responsible for the country’s diplomatic and consular relations with North Korea, Reuters said.
