A personal-data leak has put Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani's relatives at risk too, he said Saturday, as criminals continue seeking information about the family.

In a social media post, Tajani said his personal information had appeared on the dark web and circulated for several days. He said those behind the disclosure were prepared to pay for more details about him and his relatives.

He did not say what information had been shared or identify those responsible. “I will not allow myself to be intimidated in any way,” he wrote.

Tajani said he would continue defending his ministry and Italy while strengthening ties and cooperation so they could protect themselves together.

The Independent reported that the post came amid a series of security incidents in Europe. Its account cited hoax bomb threats that disrupted flights, threats against broadcasters, attacks on supermarket refrigeration equipment and drone incursions. Tajani is also a vice premier in Italy's government.
