Tesla introduces a series of dynamic upgrades to the Cybertruck, including Baja Mode and CyberTent Mode, designed to enhance the all-electric pickup's off-road performance and user comfort on rugged terrain.
New Off-Road Features for Tesla Cybertruck
Tesla has announced several new capabilities for the Cybertruck, which will be available soon. From a dedicated Baja Mode to locking differentials and a CyberTent mode, the Cybertruck is getting many upgrades to make the all-electric pickup truck an even more formidable off-road adventure vehicle.
Tesla posted a list of future features for the Cybertruck on its official X page. The EV manufacturer claims that the listed functionalities will be available soon, as per Teslarati. Tesla Cybertruck Lead Engineer Wes Morrill also stated that the upgrade, including the Cybertruck's additional functionality, is now being applied to Wave 1 vehicles.
The following are the new features being introduced for the Cybertruck.
Off-road Mode
Overland Mode - This provides more consistent handling and overall traction, whether driving on rock, gravel, thick snow, or sand.
Baja Mode - When Stability Assist is set to Minimal, the car balances better and handles more freely.
Locking Differentials (Dual Motor AWD) | Off-Road Mode
If a wheel has little or no traction on uneven or slippery ground, Cybertruck can shift the torque to the opposite wheel.
In Off-Road Mode, select Locking Differentials from the vehicle status screen or the Off-Road app.
Front Locking Differential (Cyberbeast Tri Motor) | Off Road Mode
To enable the Locking Differential function, go to Off-Road Mode > Overland. The Cyberbeast tri motor has a virtual rear locking differential that always operates in overland mode.
Trail Assist | Off-road Mode
It functions similarly to cruise control but for off-road driving. Trail Assist maintains a predetermined cruising pace, allowing you to focus on steering. Trail Assist is a hill ascent and descent control, keeping the wheels from skidding.
Off-road Mode > Trail Assist
Slippery Surface | On the Road
Improved grip control on snowy, icy, wet, or slick roads, distributing traction evenly across all tires.
Dynamics > Slippery Surfaces
Dynamics > Engage Rear Locking Differential for enhanced traction (should be used only momentarily).
Ride and Handling with a Load | On the Road
Adaptive suspension evaluates loads more accurately and automatically adjusts damping, resulting in a more pleasant ride and more consistent, confident handling.
CyberTent Mode
Levels the suspension, allowing you to sleep comfortably on a flat surface in your CyberTent.
Also, keep the tonneau cover open to accommodate your tent. The lights, air conditioning, and outlets will remain on if enabled.
Top Gear recently aired a video highlighting some of the Cybertruck's new features. According to the Top Gear hosts, Tesla's Cybertruck update transformed the all-electric pickup truck into a capable off-roader that could compete with the Rivian R1T. This vehicle may be regarded as the current standard for all-electric off-road adventures.
