Many fans are hoping to see Rick Lagina, Marty Lagina, and their crew coming back later this year. Unfortunately, the making of “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7 has not been confirmed yet.
The latest season of History channel’s active reality show became one of the longest installment in terms of episode count. It was interpreted as the show being able to maintain a solid fanbase, thus, convincing A&E Networks it deserves to have a longer run. However, this might not be an assurance that it will be picked up for “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7.
There are reports suggesting that giving the show more episodes in season 6 than it usually had in the previous years could be a chance for the producers to wrap up the show. That would mean that “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7 is not happening. In fact, the lingering question for the most part of the finale was whether or not it is time for them wrap up the digging operations in the island.
At one point, Marty said in the season 6 finale, “We’re out of time … we’re basically done.” He could only be referring to the fact that the season is changing and they have to halt the operations again. But it could also be foreshadowing something else, specifically about the state of “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7.
However, the season 6 finale concluded on a more optimistic note. Both Marty and Rick pointed out that there is a lot still to be uncovered on the island. The team also agreed that there have seen small successes in their Smith’s Cove operations. With this attitude, the cast appears to be looking forward to continuing the digging in “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7. But will A&E pick up the show for another run?
Another factors to consider in speculating on “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7 are the TV rating and viewership, after all, this is a TV show. Official records for the last episodes of season 6 are yet to be reported. So far, the lowest number reported was for the premiere with 1.16 million viewers.
However, the show was able to pick up the pace in the following episodes of season 6 with the viewership numbers playing between 2 million and over 3 million. It is the show’s usual numbers even for earlier seasons. That increases the chance of A&E Networks ordering the production of “The Curse of Oak Island” season 7 that usually premieres in November.
