The Economic Times reported a six-month beta of 1.2822 for Hindalco Industries, but left its benchmark unnamed, limiting what investors can infer about the stock’s relative market sensitivity.

The outlet posted the reading at 10:17 p.m. Eastern time Nov. 1 (03:17 UTC Nov. 2). Its quote page displayed 1.28, a rounded version of the same reading.

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) explains beta as a measure of how a stock’s returns have related to the wider market, often using an index as the reference. The live update did not name an index or explain its calculation. Without those details, readers cannot compare the figure on a like-for-like basis with other beta readings. EconoTimes previously covered a similar disclosure gap in beta readings for Mahindra & Mahindra.

NSE closing-auction data put Hindalco at ₹884.70 at 5:58 a.m. ET (09:58 UTC; 3:28 p.m. IST) Oct. 30, the latest completed trading session before the update. The Economic Times’ liveblog also displayed ₹886.30 as its “last recorded price,” but did not make clear when that figure was recorded.

Hindalco is part of the Aditya Birla Group and operates in aluminum and copper. Its subsidiary Novelis runs a global flat-rolled aluminum business, and Hindalco describes itself as India’s largest copper producer. The NSE event calendar lists a Nov. 6 board meeting to consider unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter ended Sept. 30.
