‘The Flash’ Season 3, Episode 7 Spoilers: “Killer Frost” – Caitlin Debuts Icy Alter-Ego; Kevin Smith Directs

Danielle Panabaker plays Caitlin a.k.a. Killer Frost on The CW's 'The Flash'

‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled “Killer Frost”, will feature Caitlin’s imminent transformation into the icy DC villainess as she embraces her newfound alter-ego. Kevin Smith, who directed last year's episode "The Runaway Dinosaur," is set to helm episode 7.

The synopsis for episode 7 posted on Comicbook.com reads, “Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) uses her powers to save Barry (Grant Gustin) but as her mother predicted, the effort unleashes her inner Killer Frost.

Killer Frost goes on a rampage looking for Dr. Alchemy, kidnapping Julian (Tom Felton) and battling both The Flash and Vibe (Carlos Valdes). Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) have a heart to heart.”

In the incoming episode, Caitlin will learn to embrace her newfound powers and will finally complete her transformation as the iconic DC super villain Killer Frost. During an interview with Collider, Panabaker teased, “She’s going to have to figure out different ways to cope with these changes.”

When asked about why Caitlin decided to keep her powers a secret from her friends and allies, Panabaker said, “I think she doesn’t understand it… I think that conversation would be a little bit difficult, like, ‘Hey guys, I don’t have any answers, but here you go,’ especially for Caitlin as a scientist and someone who is focused on always having the answers.”

Killer Frost is a meta-human from Earth Two. The character first appeared in the original DC comic book “Firestorm #3” but in the Prime Earth continuity, appeared in “Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men #19” as part of the New 52 DC Universe.

She has the ability to absorb heat from external sources and unleash frozen air from her hands. She can also produce ice spikes, freeze people with kisses, or create powerful ice storms that can kill multiple people. She is definitely the polar opposite of Earth One Caitlin, who is kind, loving and compassionate.

During a separate interview with ET, Panabaker admitted that episode 7 is one of her favorite ones for the season. She also said, "I'm excited to explore whether or not there is an opportunity for both of those [aspects of Caitlin] to exist. We'll see… Hopefully it makes for some good TV."

‘The Flash’ season 3’s episode 7, entitled “Killer Frost,” is scheduled to air on The CW on November 22, 2016. It was directed by Kevin Smith of ‘Clerks’ and ‘Chasing Amy’ fame with a story prepared by Judalina Neira and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Brooke Roberts. It will be followed by episode 8, entitled “Invasion!,” scheduled for November 29.
