‘The Fosters’ season 4’s episode 16, titled “Long Haul,” is set to follow Jude as he clashes with his mother Lena when she spearheads a sex education class for LGBTQ students. Meanwhile, Emma will attempt to tell Jesus the truth about what she is going through.

The synopsis for episode 16 posted on TV Guide reads, “Sharon (Annie Potts) and Will (Rob Morrow) announce that they are engaged. Meanwhile, Stef (Teri Polo) learns that her mom has second thoughts about getting married; Emma (Amanda Leighton) writes Jesus (Jake T. Austin) an honest letter; and Jude (Hayden Byerly) is teased at school when Lena (Sherri Saum) holds an LGBTQ-friendly sex-ed class for students.”

Jude is set to have a tough time in school when he is teased for his mom Lena’s efforts in holding an LGBTQ-friendly sex education class for students. In the previous episode, titled “Sex Ed,” Jude realizes that he needed more information since the recently held sex education class didn’t address the needs of gay relationships.

According to the recap on Entertainment Monthly, he eventually does some research of his own by turning to the internet for answers. He stumbles on a gay dating site and things spiral downwards from there. He nearly gets embroiled in a dangerous situation and his mother finds out about it and talks to him about the consequences.

It seems that Jude and Lena will clash in the new episode after the other kids in school begin taunting him about her involvement in the LGBTQ sex education class. Lena will have to let him know that she only intended to support him and did not mean to put him in an uncomfortable position among his peers.

Meanwhile, Emma will decide to come clean to Jesus after his suspicions added further strains to his relationship. In the previous episode, Jesus accused his girlfriend with flirting with Brandon (David Lambert) since the two have been spending a considerable amount of time together.

Unbeknownst to Jesus, Brandon was only there to support Emma when she underwent her abortion since she had nobody else to turn to. They decided to keep Emma’s pregnancy a secret, considering Jesus’ fragile condition believing that the news would add further stress to his recovering body.

Although Emma decides to reveal her secrets to Jesus, it seems that she will discover that he has secrets of his own as well.

‘The Fosters’ season 4’s episode 16, titled “Long Haul,” is scheduled to air on Freeform on March 14, 2017. It was directed by Bradley Bredeweg and written by Megan Lynn and Wade Solomon. It will be followed by episode 17, titled "Diamond in the Rough," directed by Lily Mariye and scheduled to be released on March 21.
