“The Good Doctor” Season 3 will continue on the various plots and twists that the previous finale has set up, as well as the relationship that’s about to be explored. The most interesting of which is Shaun’s love story and the characters involved in his latest romantic quest.
While some – if not most – of the audiences were expecting the savant physician to ask out Claire (Antonia Thomas), Shaun ended up bringing chocolates and flowers to Carly (Jaskika Nicole) instead. But this romantic route isn’t set in stone and a lot could happen in “The Good Doctor” Season 3 that would change what’s already been laid out. Indeed, a multiple love interest angle has already been hinted by showrunner David Shore, TVLine reported.
“Any one of those three — Carly, Lea, Claire — would have been a legitimate choice, and all three of them are something to explore in the future. The audience loves all three of those characters, but I think for the most part, the audience wants to see Shaun with Lea, and I kind of do, too, but we’ll see where that goes,” Shore explained. He went on to say that all three of the characters he mentioned will be romantically explored in “The Good Doctor” Season 3 and the subsequent installments.
This, too, has already been hinted in the recent finale when Lea (Paige Spara) assumed Shaun was about to ask her out. Instead, the savant walked past her and her reaction was a mix of confusion and disappointment. Is she going to get jealous in “The Good Doctor” Season 3 now that Shaun has found someone new? That remains to be seen and it would be interesting to see how Shore will steer this ship moving forward.
As for the release date of the “The Good Doctor” Season 3, ABC has yet to announce anything. However, since the first and second installment were both released in September, it’s expected that the third will be treated similarly since there’s no indication at the moment that the network would change their scheduling.
