The Independent reported Wednesday, Nov. 4, that Sky News U.S. correspondent James Matthews called Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s refusal to answer him disappointing, arguing decisions by U.S. officials matter internationally.
“It was disappointing that he didn't feel able to take questions from foreign media,” Matthews said, according to The Independent. He argued that decisions by U.S. officials matter to people beyond the country.
Sky News posted footage running one minute, 25 seconds, on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The video shows El-Sayed declining Matthews’ questions and saying, “You know how many votes I want to get in the UK? Zero.”
The Associated Press called the Michigan Senate race for El-Sayed on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The AP call was not a certified state result.
