The report adds a concrete development to Meta’s previously described consumer-robotics research: a prototype built with Chinese startup Fourier and a second version in progress, The Information reported Oct. 31.
The Information cited people familiar with the initiative. Reuters, which carried the account, said it could not immediately verify the report. The report did not detail the prototype’s design, capabilities, development schedule or intended use, and did not identify it as Fourier’s GR-3 model.
Fourier’s product page lists the GR-3 at 165 centimeters tall and 71 kilograms, with 55 degrees of freedom. Those specifications describe Fourier’s robot; the report did not say Meta’s prototype was based on it.
A 2025 internal memo, reported by Reuters in February, described a new group within Meta’s Reality Labs focused on research and development involving consumer humanoid robots. In the memo, Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth said the work would aim at “maximizing Llama’s platform capabilities,” Reuters reported.
