TNT's post-apocalyptic story about the USS Nathan James's crew that aimed to stop the virus that killed almost all of the human race may have overcome the Red Flu in the past. But “The Last Ship” season 5 episode 6 may be the start of a new challenge that Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) and his men have to deal with in the face of a decimated Earth.
The episode prior to “The Last Ship” season 5 episode 6 showed Tom Chandler at a press conference featuring some of the US's top military officers making a commitment that the war between America and the Grand Colombian Empire is hardly a battle that cannot be won. It seems that the optimism presented by Chandler and his executive staff to the media is in stark contrast to Chandler's men cowering in the cellar in the face of the Grand Colombian Empire's invasion. But now, it seems the crew of the Nathan Hale will be taking the battle to its enemies rather than bearing the load of the attacks.
With the Grand Columbian Empire's invasion fully underway, the “The Last Ship” season 5 episode 6 synopsis mentions the crew of the Nathan Hale fighting back after the beating that Gustavo's (Maurice Compte) forces have dealt to the northern territories. Titled “Air Drop,” it seems fans can expect Chandler's men to go behind enemy lines to pursue their mission.
The war with the Grand Colombian Empire cannot be won without a staging area from which the U.S. forces will coordinate their attacks. And such a staging area cannot be secured without the help of locals. It seems that after their intelligence-gathering mission in the previous episode, Chandler's men will be linking up with those unsatisfied by Gustavo's occupation in “The Last Ship” season 5 episode 6.
Fans looking forward to seeing how the crew plans to liberate the territories taken by Gustavo's empire can look forward to “The Last Ship” season 5 episode 6 when it airs on Oct. 14.
