‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 7, titled “Plan B,” will follow Julia and Kady as they enlist her former friends to pull off a magical heist in a bank.
The brief synopsis posted on TV Guide for episode 7 states, “Julia (Stella Maeve) and Kady (Jade Tailor) enlist Quentin (Jason Ralph), Margo (Summer Bishil), Eliot (Hale Appleman) and Penny (Arjun Gupta) for a magical heist.”
It seems that Julia will have to look to her former friends for help in the upcoming episode of Syfy’s fantasy television series based on the novel of the same name authored by Lev Grossman. The promo reveals that they will be using their magical abilities to go on a bank heist.
One scene shows Quentin using magic to unlock the bank’s security system. Inside, they find a huge stack of gold bars for the taking. However, upon their exit from the vault following an alarm, they are intercepted by a seemingly powerful magician ready to do battle.
The promotional photographs posted on TV Fanatic shows Julia back at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy. One image shows her sitting on a desk while flanked by the dean and the professor. It looks like they are trying to figure out her state as well as her baby’s.
It will be interesting to see this reunion and if Julia and friends can finally learn to trust each other. During an interview with Blastr, executive producer Sera Gamble explained that Quentin is the most important person in Julia’s life. Gamble said, “She is a character without much support in the world. The closest she has to family is Quentin, and that is for good and bad. As time goes on, that becomes true of Kady.”
Gamble continued, “It goes back to what another character said to her in Season 1: It is hard in the world for a young woman like her. She is exceptional, she is driven and ambitious, and she is following her gut and instincts against a lot of advice. Because of that, people are not falling into line trying to help her. Again and again she has to figure out her own way.”
In the previous episode, tiled "The Cock Barrens," Julia and Kady managed to track down Dana, the woman who banished Reynard decades ago. Dana revealed that the only way to get rid of Reynard again was to have her demigod baby and use his magical energy to go through with the banishing spell.
Meanwhile, it looks like Quentin will be trying to cook up a new spell – presumably for dealing with Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley) - considering that he is poring over books for research in another promotional image. He is also set to have a serious meeting with Alice’s father.
In the previous episode, Quentin was desperate to finish Alice’s niffin reversal spell but realized that he needed to find her first. When he showed up at her memorial, he found that Alice was still a niffin and needed his help. After leading him on, it was revealed that Alice was just playing him the entire time and intended to emotionally torture her own parents.
‘The Magicians’ season 2’s episode 7, titled “Plan B,” was directed by Chris Fisher and is scheduled to air on Syfy on March 8, 2017. It will be followed by episode 8, titled "Word as Bond," scheduled to be released on March 15.
