The Nike Book 1 'Sunrise' Drops on October 10th, atmos Revives Kareem's adidas Jabbar

The Nike Book 1

The Nike Book 1 “Sunrise” will be released on October 10th, adding a bold new colorway to Devin Booker’s collection. Simultaneously, atmos is reviving Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s iconic adidas Jabbar shoe in a fresh collaboration, bringing back the basketball legend’s signature sneaker with modern updates.

Devin Booker Continues His Sneaker Success with the Nike Book 1 ‘Sunrise’ Releasing October 10

Devin Booker and Team USA have entered international basketball with high spirits, maintaining a perfect 5-0 record as they advance toward their pursuit of gold. Despite a few close games threatening their flawless run, the team remains undefeated. For Booker, this journey isn't just about the game—he's also making waves in the sneaker world. Following the release of his Book 1 “Lilac Bloom,” a new iteration, the Nike Book 1 “Beyond Pink,” has been unveiled in an exclusive first look from SneakerNews.

Similar to its lavender-tinted predecessor, the “Beyond Pink” features a monochromatic design, with the upper split between shades of “Beyond Pink” and “Pink Foam.” Subtle accents enhance the look, including gold “Chapter One” embroidery running vertically along the heel and a golden interior lining the tongue. However, the standout feature is the gradient outsole, transitioning from “Vivid Grape” to “Celestial Gold,” a nod to the Phoenix Suns' Valley jerseys. While designed for everyday wear, this lifestyle-focused colorway still alludes to Booker’s connection to the game.

According to Sneaker News, this release also marks a shift in the Book 1 collection. It is the first pair to sport a full fabric upper, a departure from previous pairs incorporating snakeskin, reflective synthetics, and fur. The outsole's design and other material choices echo the recently revealed Book 1 “Court Purple,” suggesting a themed pack for late 2024.

The Nike Book 1 “Sunrise” will be released on October 10, 2024, with a retail price of $140. Official images have been updated to reflect this.

adidas and atmos Revive Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s Iconic Jabbar Shoe with a Vintage Twist

While Michael Jordan is often credited with revolutionizing the signature sneaker market, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and adidas helped pave the way over 15 years earlier. Released in the early 1970s, the adidas Jabbar was the first signature basketball shoe from adidas and one of the pioneering athlete-specific shoes in the basketball world, alongside Clyde Frazier's PUMA Clyde.

Over five decades later, adidas is bringing renewed attention to this historic sneaker. Following the summer release of the original white and blue leather colorway, adidas has teamed up with Japanese brand atmos to introduce a fresh take on the classic Jabbar. This collaboration features a suede upper and reverse color blocking, maintaining the signature blue and white palette but adding unique design elements. A pre-aged sole contributes to a “reimagined” vintage aesthetic. Interestingly, despite being a collaborative effort, the shoe lacks Atmos branding, focusing instead on adidas logos on the insoles and a graphic of Abdul-Jabbar performing his iconic skyhook on the tongue.

The atmos x adidas Jabbar will be available via atmos and adidas Japan on September 27, priced at approximately $125. Check the "Where To Buy" section for purchasing details.
