‘The Royals’ season 3 is set to feature more royal family drama with return of Prince Robert to the palace, as teased by actor Max Brown. Robert will also get into a brotherly rivalry with Liam in the new episodes.
Prince Robert Henstridge is the late King Simon (Vincent Regan) and Queen Helena's (Elizabeth Hurley) eldest son. He was long presumed dead until he was revealed to be alive, washed up on the shores of a deserted island in season 2’s finale episode. Max Brown was cast into the role last June and he made his grand return in England as he came face to face with his mother and sister Prince Eleanor (Alexandra Park) at the end of season 3’s episode 3, titled "Aye, There's the Rub."
In the first two seasons of E!’s royal drama television series, Robert was described as a “very moralistic” member of the royal family who sought to live “the right way” in both his public and private affairs. However, Brown revealed that his character will unfold his complexities in season 3.
Now that Robert has returned to claim his rightful place as the new monarch following the death of his father, Brown teased during an interview with E! News, "There's some big revelations with him coming back into the fold… Obviously Prince Robert has been brought up as the first born son of the family and groomed to be the next King of England so there's a lot of drama surrounding that."
Helena struggled with proving Liam’s parentage as King Simon’s true heir and worked to dethrone her husband’s brother King Cyrus (Jake Maskall). However, it seems that her plans will go haywire since Robert is alive and well.
In the preceding episode, a DNA test proved that Liam was indeed King Simon’s son and that Liam was about to dethrone the new king. Brown explained, "[Robert] and his sister are very tight and he's supportive of her and loving and he kind of fathers her… And his brother, they have that brotherly relationship where they have a lot of competitiveness and that all kind of comes throughout the season and it's great."
He continued, "I think this third season is full of big, big drama… There's the fight over the crown, there's Prince Robert's return from the dead… And that brotherly kind of rivalry between me and Liam is just going to be enjoying to watch."
It was also revealed that Liam’s new lady love Kathryn (Christina Wolfe) was actually previously involved with Robert, according to TVRuckus. It would be interesting to see if Robert will be able to reclaim the throne as well as his girlfriend in the incoming episode.
‘The Royals’ season 3 is set to return on E! with episode 4, titled "Our (Late) Dear Brother's Death," scheduled to air on January 1, 2017.
