When someone is using drugs, certain signs are being displayed. These are the signs that will enable you to find out if the person is genuinely abusing drugs. These signs include things like experiencing difficulty on a particular task. Drugs interfere with one’s concentration; thus people find it hard being attentive.
A person may become argumentative whenever they are confronted with an issue. There is also the deterioration of one’s personal hygiene, especially in adolescents. Absenteeism may also be experienced among school-going drug users. This is rampant on Mondays as the addicts are still nursing hangovers from the drugs they took during the weekend.
Drug Abuse Signs
Another sign of drug abuse is a person isolating him or herself. One also starts sleeping a lot and becomes very forgetful. One may also have some odor on their breath and always look intoxicated. A drug user will change their peer-group as they will start hanging out with other people who take drugs. This means that if you notice that your loved one is acting strangely and hanging out with the wrong people, this is a cause of alarm that they may be using drugs.
Another physical sign of drug abuse is an inflammation of the iris while at the same time the pupil appears to be bigger than usual, or a running nose that never seems to heal. The running nose symptom is likely to be experienced by drug users who sniff drugs. This is because the drugs end up weakening the nasal muscles, causing a permanently running nose. A drug addict may also start suffering from nasal problems such as sinus problems and frequent nosebleeds.
If the addict injects the drug into their blood, you will notice that they have scars on their inner arms or other parts of the body due to injections and the drug user may frequently complain of chest problems. If you happen to go through the addict’s possessions, you will be shocked to find some of the items.
These items may include razor blades, little bottles where they put their drugs, pieces of glass, and small spoons. The spoons are usually used for heating the drugs so that they can inhale the aroma that comes from burning the drug. Needles are used for injecting the drug and the razor blades function to scar their bodies so that they can insert the drug directly into the bloodstream.
