Four days after Ottawa tabled its 2026 fiscal plan, Kitchener—Conestoga MP Tim Louis is scheduled to discuss it at a New Hamburg event Monday, with affordability and economic resilience among the listed themes, according to the government advisory.

Louis is due at the Wilmot & Wellesley Resource Centre at 1:30 p.m. ET (18:30 UTC). The Department of Intergovernmental Affairs says officials will be available to media after the program.

The Department of Finance Canada says Budget 2026 includes C$22 billion in new affordability measures over five years. One planned payment in early 2027 would increase the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit by 50% for more than 12 million people. The budget estimates the supplement would provide C$4.1 billion in additional support, part of the wider affordability package.

The advisory does not identify the specific budget measures Louis will feature.
