Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee thinks a new crypto bull market started in late June 2026, driven by a capital rotation from AI stocks into crypto, strengthened blockchain fundamentals, institutional demand, and a possible weakening of the conventional four-year Bitcoin cycle. Lee cautions that this optimistic view does not rule out price corrections even if he expects a good market for cryptos over the next 12 months.
Lee's company, BitMine, has recently bought another 27,180 ETH, bringing its overall holdings to almost 6 million ETH worth about $14.9 billion. This sizable buildup places BitMine near to its objective of owning 5% of Ethereum's total supply, hence representing some 4.9% of Ethereum's available supply. Significantly, about 85% of BitMine's ETH assets are staked, which helps the company to produce staking revenue while still keeping its significant Ethereum network exposure.
The significant ETH holdings and staking plan of BitMine is regarded as good for the Ethereum story. BitMine's activities help ETH to be seen more as a profitable digital asset than just speculative by lowering the amount of liquid supply on exchanges and earning staking income. Furthermore, a listed company's move to create a sizable Ethereum treasury might inspire other companies and investment funds to investigate comparable approaches.
