The upcoming “Total War: Warhammer 3” is one of the most anticipated titles for fans of strategy games. Here’s what’s known about the upcoming strategy title.
Will there be a “Total War: Warhammer 3?”
This is a common question for gamers who are anxiously waiting for any updates on the upcoming strategy title. But even before the first game “Total War: Warhammer” was released, it was already confirmed that there will be three titles in the series.
“Additionally, SEGA has revealed this [Total War: Warhammer] is the first in a trilogy of titles, with two additional standalone installments planned to create the single largest Total War experience ever,” IGN wrote back in 2015.
“Total War: Warhammer” was released for Windows on May 24, 2016, for Linux on November 22, 2016, and for macOS on April 18, 2017. The second game, “Total War: Warhammer 2” was later released for Windows on September 28, 2017, and for Linux and macOS on November 20, 2018.
Development Updates
In June 2018, the Total War team teased that they are currently in the pre-production phase for the next game. Since the second game was already released at that time, it was naturally assumed that the game being referred to is the “Total War: Warhammer 3.”
“The Fantasy Team has begun pre-production for their next game, and it’s taking them to some dark, dark places,” the Total War team teased on a blog post. “We fear they may never return – not with minds and souls intact, at least. We’ll update you with more details when it’s safe to approach them.”
Early last year, the team released an update about having done motion-capture work on the game under pre-production. “The Fantasy Team is still very much hard at work in pre-production for their next project,” the team said in February 2019 on a post. “This month they’ve been slaving over a hot (for February) mocap studio, with some excellent performances by our resident mocap artists now in the can and waiting to have that all-important digital flesh applied to their bones.”
A post released in September 2019, made an update that “Total War: Warhammer 3” is already “deep into production,” according to Total War Warhammer Wiki.
Confirmed Features
One of the most exciting features that have been confirmed about the upcoming title is that all main races will become playable in “Total War: Warhammer 3.” This means that players can use the Ogre Kingdom, Chaos Daemons, or Chaos Dwarfs as their faction.
Another exciting “Total War: Warhammer 3” feature to look forward to is the ability of players owning any of the three games of the series (TWW1, TWW2, and TWW3) to play together. They can play a giant campaign which is currently being aptly called “A Very Big Campaign.”
Unfortunately, neither the game’s developer, Creative Assembly, nor its publisher, Sega, announced a “Total War: Warhammer 3” release date at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates.
