TraceLink, Inc. plans a dedicated account group for drug-tracing customers and a separate supply chain agentic process unit, dividing its compliance and automation work into distinct global operations.
In its Oct. 19 announcement, TraceLink said each business will have its own staff for commercial work, product development and services. It described the reorganization as an investment but disclosed no spending amount or staffing figure.
The company calls the second unit its Supply Chain Agentic Business Process (ABP) business. TraceLink cited growing adoption of MINT, POET and OPUS Agents as it outlined plans for a group to commercialize automated workflows in planning, procurement, manufacturing, inventory, logistics and commerce. It did not provide adoption figures.
For drug-tracing customers, TraceLink plans to use OPUS Agents alongside product serialization records and data on traceability, compliance and supply networks. The intended uses include reporting and the handling of exceptions and recalls. Both businesses use its OPUS platform; TraceLink has not reported measured results from the planned workflows.
TraceLink launched OPUS Agents in April 2026, describing software that can perform supply chain tasks under defined permissions. Its reorganization places the technology in both its compliance and wider supply chain offerings.
Drug suppliers also face changes to tracking and identification requirements. A U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rule requires FDA-assigned National Drug Codes to use a uniform 12-digit format beginning March 7, 2033. A transition period for drug-label updates runs through March 6, 2036. The FDA estimates industry costs, including software and labeling work, at about $14.64 million annually over 10 years using a 7% discount rate.
In Egypt, the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) launched the first phase of its pharmaceutical tracing system March 4, 2026, initially covering imported Schedule I products. EDA plans to extend the system to other imported medicines but has given no date for the next phase.
TraceLink plans to present its offerings at FutureLink Barcelona, scheduled for Oct. 19-21.
