BOSTON, Jan. 05, 2017 -- TransPerfect Medical Device Solutions today announced that division president, Marc Miller, will join Jay Crowley (USDM) and Charlie Kim (121nexus) at the Opal Medical Device Summit (Phoenix, AZ; January 9–10) to discuss emerging strategies that leverage the industry’s multi-billion-dollar investment in UDI compliance to drive revenue and deliver cost savings.

In September of 2016, the FDA’s UDI deadline arrived for the majority of U.S. medical device manufacturers. In response, the industry has invested billions of dollars into UDI implementation and compliance. Now, emerging systems and strategies are leveraging UDI—through a combination of process automation and mobile scanning technology—to deliver cost savings and increased revenue to device makers worldwide.
According to Jay Crowley, former FDA Senior Advisor for UDI, and now VP of UDI at USDM, “Originally, UDI was developed to cut through the complexity of the U.S. device distribution system and facilitate critical recalls. However, as implementation has progressed, it’s become increasingly clear that UDI can and should serve a much larger role.”
The Opal Panel will discuss how new and existing technologies can be integrated to leverage UDI infrastructure to deliver cost-saving inventory compliance, e-labeling, and process automation together with revenue-generating, direct-to-manufacturer mobile ordering, e-marketing, and marketing intelligence.
