‘Trolls’ dropped its newest official trailer featuring Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake as they introduced their respective characters and talked about the power of music.
According to First Showing.net, DreamWorks Animations released the second official trailer for the upcoming animated adventure-comedy film starring Kendrick and Timberlake in the lead roles. The animated full-feature film is based around Thomas Dam’s popular dolls of the same name, which became instant toy fads in the United States from the 1960s though the 1990s.
In the new trailer, Kendrick and Timberlake are seen introducing their respective characters Poppy and Branch. Kendrick’s Poppy is a pink-haired princess of Trolls known for her perpetually joy while Timberlake’s Branch is the complete polar opposite – gloomy, pessimistic, and paranoid Troll survivalist. The two work together despite their differences to rescue friends after the antagonistic Bergens invade Troll Village.
Kendrick says, “Poppy is the happiest troll of all the trolls… This is a story about happiness – how far some would go to get it. How far we went to get it back.” She continues, “It’s so wonderful to get to voice these characters and I think music adds so much to animation. It just feels like they belong together.”
Timberlake joins in to explain, “The Bergens gather the Trolls that they’ve caught and it’s the music that rescues them.”
In addition to lending his voice to Branch, Timberlake also serves as the executive producer for the film’s music. He confirmed that pop stars Gwen Stefani and Ariana Grande will be contributing to the soundtrack, which includes a number of hits from the 1960s through the 1980s. The trailer featured Timberlake’s cover version of “True Colors” written by songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and performed by Cyndi Lauper for her 1986 album of the same name.
According to Comingsoon.net, Kendrick and Timberlake lead an ensemble cast that includes Zooey Deschanel, Russell Brand, James Corden, Gwen Stefani, and Icona Pop among others.
‘Trolls’ is an upcoming 3D animated musical comedy film directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Walt Dohrn. It is written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. It is intended as the 33rd animated feature film produced by DreamWorks Animation.
It is scheduled to be released on November 4, 2016 and will be distributed in the United States by 20th Century Fox.
