Truist Financial said Friday that D. Steve Boland, a former Bank of America executive, will become vice chair, with responsibilities spanning Truist as the lender focuses on core deposits and deeper customer ties.
Truist said Boland will work across its operations to carry out company priorities. The bank linked the appointment to plans to grow core deposits, build stronger relationships with customers for whom Truist is a primary bank and invest in capabilities for clients.
Boland spent more than 30 years in financial services. His Bank of America positions included chief administrative officer and, earlier, president of Retail Banking. He retired from the bank in 2025.
Truist also named Shimna Sameer chief consumer banking officer and said Jeff Warner will join as chief small business banking officer. Both will report to Truist President and CEO Mike Lyons, as will Boland.
Dontá Wilson, the bank's current chief consumer and small business banking officer, will leave Truist.
