President Donald J. Trump is scheduled to campaign in Iowa and Kansas Sunday, restoring in-person appearances as Republicans enter the final days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
His campaign listings put the Dubuque, Iowa, event at 4 p.m. ET (3 p.m. Central) and the Salina, Kansas, event at 8 p.m. ET (7 p.m. Central). Both are scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1.
The schedule marks a return after the party shifted its closing-weekend plan. The Associated Press reported that Trump’s Iowa and Kansas stops were canceled Thursday and reinstated Friday. The Republican National Committee (RNC) had planned a 72-hour phone-rally effort for nearly 20 states, including states with competitive races. The RNC said the remote events would let Trump reach voters across more states in the campaign’s final days.
The University of Florida’s Election Lab tracker put early voting near 50 million by Oct. 30. Its estimate includes mail ballots and votes cast in person before Election Day.
Separately, The Associated Press counted more than 43 million early votes across 47 states and Washington, D.C., using data from five days before Election Day. That was nearly 10 million above the tally at the same point in 2022. The AP said its count did not include every early voter nationwide and did not show which candidates those voters supported. The two totals use different reporting cutoffs and coverage, so they are not a direct comparison.
Control of Congress is at stake on Nov. 3, with Republicans currently holding both the House and Senate. The AP reported that both parties are focused on close Senate races in Iowa and Kansas, the states Trump is visiting Sunday. His listed appearances come two days before Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3.
