U.S. President Donald Trump said he would decide whether to take further action against Iran and might have to “destroy the rest” of the country, Anadolu Agency reported from the Oval Office.

Anadolu Agency said Trump was asked about a proposal Iran reportedly sent to the United States through mediators about its nuclear program. Asked whether Washington was involved, Trump said Iran was “not doing anything without our approval.”

Trump said he would prefer to avoid destroying the rest of Iran if possible, Anadolu reported. He also said Iran could need 25 years to rebuild after the U.S.-Israeli war that began in February. Trump added, “You’ll know soon enough,” Anadolu reported.

In a Nov. 3 interview with the Financial Times, Trump said the United States had no immediate plans to strike Iran but could act if needed. EconoTimes previously reported Trump’s position on possible U.S. action against Iran.
