President Donald Trump said Elon Musk needed protection from possible Democratic action involving SpaceX, while discussing a scenario in which the company would come under government control.
Politico separately reported that Democrats on the House Oversight Committee were considering scrutiny of Musk’s government work if they win control of the House. In Politico’s account, Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for Rep. Robert Garcia, identified Musk’s work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as a subject lawmakers plan to examine.
