The latest smartphones from the Apple family, iPhone 6s and 6s plus, brought with them the innovative feature of taking Live Photos along with support for 3D Touch. Tumblr has integrated the two features into its updated version for iOS and is now hosting Live Photos, making it the first third-party iOS app to allow this feature, Macworld reported.
“If you have a fancy new iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, you can 3D Touch your way around the Tumblr app”, the company said in a blog post.
Tumblr lists the specific things that a user needs to “press really hard”:
- App icon: Press on it, you’ll get a shortcut to search Tumblr.
- Tumblr name or avatar: Peek at one, get a preview of that Tumblr. Pop all the way into it and see the whole thing. (Also, you can swipe upwards during your Peek to message the blog.)
- Live Photo: Press one to make it come alive.
“Live photos have a little concentric-circle supernova icon up in the corner. That’s how you spot ’em”, it added.
Tumblr rolled out the latest iOS version 5.0 on Thursday. It has 52.7MB size, requires iOS 8.0 or later and compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
In addition to Live Photos and 3D-touch capability, the updated app also includes a new feature “Send-a-Post” that allows messaging a post to any Tumblr. The feature has a new button – Paper plane that lets a user to toss a post with the tap of a button – and the button allows messaging and “it’s out to everyone”, according to the product description page.
