Turkish service sector’s sentiment eased in the month of January. According to Turkish Statistical Institute, the seasonally adjusted confidence index for service sector dropped 4 percent to 78.3 from December’s 81.5. Within services sector, business situation index fell 5.6 percent to 71.1, while the indices for demand-turnover and demand-turnover expectation fell 5.9 percent and 1.1 percent to 71.2 and 92.7, respectively.
Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted retail trade sentiment index dropped 4 percent to 92.5 in January. Within the retail trade sector, current volume of stock index and business activity-sales expectation index fell 5.5 percent each to 111.6 and 89.4, respectively. Nevertheless, business activity-sales index rose 0.2 percent to 76.6.
On the other hand, the seasonally adjusted construction confidence index rose 2.5 percent in the month to 56.7 from December’s 55.4. Within the construction sector, current overall order books index rose 18.2 percent to 46.4. Nevertheless, total employment expectation index fell 6.2 percent to 67.1.
