The U.S. dollar strengthened against Taiwan's currency in Taipei on Monday, with Central News Agency (CNA) reporting a NT$32.592 close that meant more local currency was needed for each dollar.

The closing quote was NT$0.114 above the previous session, CNA said. CNA reported that the dollar opened at NT$32.500, also the session low, and later reached NT$32.714. Trading turnover came to US$2.208 billion, CNA reported.

The latest close followed a NT$32.478 finish in the previous session, recorded in EconoTimes' earlier Taipei market report. Because the exchange rate measures Taiwan dollars per U.S. dollar, Monday's higher quote indicated a weaker Taiwan dollar.
