U.S. exchange-traded funds attracted $1.56 trillion in net inflows through September, surpassing the previous full-year record and extending a run of monthly additions to more than four years, ETFGI reported.
The U.S. industry added $152.93 billion in September, taking its 2026 total above the $1.50 trillion record set for all of 2025. September was the 53rd consecutive month with net inflows, ETFGI said.
The 2026 pace also exceeded earlier year-to-date totals. U.S. ETFs had gathered $951.27 billion through September 2025 and $740.78 billion over the same period in 2024, according to ETFGI.
Three large providers accounted for more than half of U.S. year-to-date inflows. Vanguard, iShares and State Street SPDR together accounted for $829 billion, or about 53% of the total through September, ETFGI said.
Across the broader ETF market, inflows exceeded $100 billion in each of 17 consecutive months, totaling $2.6 trillion over the streak. ETFGI cited investor demand and said investors value active management alongside ETFs’ tax efficiency, transparency and liquidity.
