The United States renewed for one year an emergency addressing the spread of weapons of mass destruction, citing continuing threats to its security, foreign policy and economy.
The notice, dated Nov. 3 and published in the Federal Register on Nov. 5, says the threat includes nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and the means used to deliver them. It also identifies risks to U.S. national security, foreign policy and the U.S. economy.
The continuation invokes Section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act and extends the measure beyond Nov. 14, 2026. The notice continues the emergency for one year.
The emergency began in 1994 under Executive Order 12938. Executive Order 13094 amended it in 1998, followed by Executive Order 13382 in 2005, the notice says.
The notice also calls for its formal filing in the Federal Register and forwarding to Congress.
