The United Arab Emirates’ Gaza mission has moved more than 136,000 tonnes of aid over three years, with The National valuing the total at $4.16 billion in a report Thursday.
The National estimated the UAE accounted for about 46% of international humanitarian assistance delivered to Gaza. It described Operation Gallant Knight 3 as the UAE’s largest humanitarian mission to the territory.
Health services linked to the mission have treated more than 294,000 cases, The National reported. The program provides care through health centers, hospitals in the field and convoys that bring in medicines and supplies. The report said the operation works in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Food security efforts include 40 community kitchens, which produce about eight million meals a year. The operation also supports around 27 bakeries, which can produce up to 1.5 million bread bundles annually, The National reported.
The Winter Clothing campaign aims to provide clothing, blankets and heating supplies to one million people in Gaza, the outlet said. The National listed it among the operation’s seasonal initiatives.
The operation’s transport effort includes 792 aircraft, 26 ships and 14,711 trucks, according to The National. It also reported 81 airdrop missions through Birds of Goodness, intended to reach communities where ground access is difficult. Aid moves to Gaza by land, air and sea.
The National said shipments are received and sorted at a UAE humanitarian aid logistics center in Al Arish, Egypt, before being sent to Gaza. EconoTimes previously covered a winter aid shipment that reached Al Arish ahead of transfer to Gaza.
Operation Gallant Knight 3 began Nov. 5, 2023, following directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The National reported. The outlet said the effort started as emergency relief and later broadened to address food, medical, shelter and psychosocial needs.
