As UBS approaches its year-end Credit Suisse integration target, Chief Executive Sergio P. Ermotti said the project slowed the bank’s AI deployment somewhat but it can now focus more on technology, Reuters reported.

Ermotti made the comments at an event at ETH Zurich on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Reuters also reported that he said UBS does not allow outside AI agents to enter the bank on behalf of clients.

UBS’s second-quarter results, released July 29, 2026, counted 560 AI use cases in production, 92% more than a year earlier. The bank reported more than 920 applications in development and said it was advancing nine large-scale AI initiatives. Those figures show that deployment continued during the integration, but do not measure how much the work affected its pace.

UBS acquired Credit Suisse in June 2023. In March 2026, the bank said it had finished moving former Credit Suisse client accounts worldwide onto UBS infrastructure, bringing the integration into its final phase. Retiring the former bank’s IT systems remains part of that work.

In its interim report, UBS said more than 90% of the former Credit Suisse IT applications designated for decommissioning were no longer in use as of June 30, 2026. About 70% had been fully decommissioned.

UBS expects to substantially complete the integration by the end of 2026.
