Cyber incidents affecting Britain's meat-processing sector have prompted assistance from the United Kingdom's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), and its director of operations, Paul Chichester, said the effects remained limited, Anadolu Agency reported.
Anadolu Agency also reported cyber incidents that disrupted supermarket refrigeration elsewhere in Europe. It said rising temperatures inside refrigerators and freezers led to food losses.
At the launch of the NCSC's 2026 annual review, Chief Executive Richard Horne said AI could accelerate attackers’ discovery and exploitation of software vulnerabilities that organizations have left unresolved for years. Separately, he cited aging technology, delayed upgrades and underinvestment in security as reasons businesses and supply chains remain exposed. The NCSC has also assessed the risk of AI-powered malware targeting critical infrastructure.
Sky News reported overnight outreach by Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), the UK's intelligence agency, to organizations considered vulnerable to similar attacks.
