UK consumer confidence still rising

The surprise election victory for the Conservative party suggests that UK voters were happier about the state of the economy than pollsters had understood. 

The labour data showed what may prove to be a temporary dip in employment growth but earnings continued to accelerate.

"It therefore seems likely that consumer confidence will have risen further from 7 to 9 in July", says Societe Generale.
