U.K. jobless rate rises slightly in Q3 2018

The U.K. Labour Force Survey’s latest estimates show that the number of people in employment rose by 23,000 in the third quarter to 32.41 million. The employment growth came in at 0.1 percent, which is below the 0.6 percent growth in GDP over the same period.

The latest labor force estimates indicate that jobless rate in the U.K. rose in the quarter by 21,000 to 1.38 million. The rise in the level of unemployment was preceded by declining unemployment in two previous quarters. In jobless rate rose by 0.1 percentage points to 4.1 percent. In the year to September 2018, the jobless rate dropped 0.2 percentage points, showed ONS.
