Wisconsin Elections Commission Chairman, Mark Thomsen, a Democrat, announced earlier that the committee would follow through with Stein's recount request but denied a request that the recount be conducted by hand. According to the Election Commissioner, usually caution is taken while counting the ballots in a Presidential race, so a recount is unlikely to change the outcome of the election. He cited a 2011 statewide recounting, where the recount changed only 300 votes.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein cited the possibility of hacking by foreign countries as the primary reason for her call to recount the votes in three states. However, the White House said that there is no evidence from the intelligence community of the United States that there has been hacking, done to change the outcome in favor of Donald Trump. Jill Stein, herself speaking to CNN’s Anderson Cooper said that she doesn’t have any evidence of hacking.
The recount in Wisconsin is expected to begin on Thursday, December 1st and the outcome would be announced before December 13th.
