U.S. initial jobless claims rise slightly in mid-November

U.S. initial jobless claims rose slightly last week. For the week ended 16 November, the initial jobless claims rose to 224k from 221k. The consensus expectations were for the jobless claims to have come in at 215k.

The four-week moving average of initial jobless claims came in at 224,000, slightly above consensus expectations of 215,000. The latest estimate was up slightly from an upwardly revised 221,000 figure for the previous week.
