The Republican member of the House of Representatives Devin Nunes, who is also the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has confirmed that two U.S. House Committees (House Intelligence Committee and House Oversight Committee) will conduct a formal investigation into a 2010 deal, popularly known as Uranium One deal. Under the deal, which has been heavily criticized by President Donald Trump sold 20 percent of the American Uranium supply to a Russian mining Company.
The uranium deal involved selling a Canadian mining company to Russian nuclear giant Rosatom, which gave it access to 20 percent of American Uranium, a necessary ingredient for making nuclear weapons. President Trump has criticized the agreement throughout the campaign saying that Clinton made a fortune thanks to the agreement. The deal was negotiated under Obama administration and Hillary Clinton, who was the Secretary of the State at that time had to approve the deal.
A last week’s report by ‘The Hill’ which claims that the FBI has uncovered substantial evidence that shows that Russian officials involved in the deal paid bribes before the deal was approved and millions of dollars were transferred to Clinton foundation.
