U.S. under Trump Series: Trump sends written responses to special counsel’s Russia questions

President Trump has reportedly answered questions given by special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, which has been investigating the Trump administration’s alleged involvement with Russia during the campaign.

Investigations conducted by the United States’ House of Representatives has however shown that it was actually the top officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) colluded with the Hillary Clinton campaign and tried to derail then-candidate Donald Trump from becoming the President. Most of those officials have either been fired, forced to resign or demoted. Though the investigations have not ended, it is widely believed that the special counsel investigation on alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia is based on false premise and false reporting.

However, President Trump has said that he will not be getting himself involved in overseeing the special counsel investigation, which he calls a ‘witch-hunt’ despite having the legal basis to do so.

With regard to the Mueller’s questionnaire, Trump's legal team has indicated that the president would not answer any additional questions aside from potential follow-ups. Likewise, Trump is not expected to answer any questions that refer to allegations of obstruction of justice, with his lawyers insisting that the constitution protects the sitting President from answering questions on policies he conducted while in office.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said he prepared the answers himself, and that it did not take him very long.
