Fox News Digital reported that Vice President JD Vance is seeking a coalition of Republicans who support President Donald Trump but object to his foreign policy, an effort directed toward the political landscape ahead of 2028.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Vance tied Republicans’ losses in the Nov. 3 midterm elections to the Iran war, writing, “The reason we lost is the war.” He said a pollster identified four priorities for winning voters back: ending the war, addressing the cost of living and inflation, putting America first, and changing the U.S. relationship with Israel.
A Trump administration official told Fox News Digital that the prospective group favors fewer U.S. commitments overseas, stronger border enforcement and policies focused on family affordability. The official also said members believe Trump has leaned too closely toward Israel in foreign affairs. The official called Vance the choice for Trump supporters concerned by the president’s approach: “Vance is our guy.”
Fox News Digital said the White House had not responded to its request for comment by publication time. The report follows Vance’s earlier comments about a possible 2028 presidential run, when he said he had not decided whether to run and believed Trump would endorse him if he did.
