NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2017 -- Varonis Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRNS), a leading provider of software solutions that protect data from insider threats and cyberattacks, has today announced that its DatAlert solution has been awarded Silver by the Info Security Product Guide's 2017 Global Excellence Awards® in the User Behavior Analytics (UBA) category.
The award comes shortly after Varonis launched the latest iteration of its data security platform in version 6.3.150, which includes updates to DatAlert’s existing UBA threat detection capabilities to quickly flag suspicious behavior and investigate threats. The Varonis data security platform analyzes and profiles user roles, file system and email activity, permissions, file content and directory services information in order to detect compromised accounts, rogue administrators, disgruntled employees and users that have been compromised by ransomware or external attackers.
"One of the problems that has stayed the same in our evolving cybersecurity environment is undetected insider access and abuse. UBA provides the necessary tools to properly protect and monitor sensitive data in files and emails from unusual activity that may indicate an attack is underway,” said David Gibson, Chief Marketing Officer at Varonis. “DatAlert’s use of UBA-based threat models against file system and email telemetry is instrumental in allowing our customers to identify, prioritize and mitigate unusual and threatening activity, including zero-day variants of ransomware, compromised accounts, rogue administrators and misbehaving employees."
More than 40 industry voices from around the world acted as judges for the Info Security awards, and their average scores determined the 2017 Global Excellence Awards Finalists and Winners. Winners were announced during the awards dinner and presentation on February 13, 2017, in San Francisco attended by the finalists, judges and industry peers.
