Vietcombank’s price for selling $1 fell to VND25,930 on Wednesday, VnExpress reported, extending this week’s decline in the bank’s quote while Vietnam’s central bank also lowered its reference rate.
The selling price was 0.12% below Tuesday’s level and its lowest since mid-April 2025, according to VnExpress. The State Bank of Vietnam set its reference rate at VND25,627 per dollar, down 0.01%.
In Monday’s reported rates, Vietcombank quoted VND25,990 and unofficial exchange points quoted about VND26,050 per dollar.
On Wednesday, the unofficial quote was about VND26,080, VnExpress reported. That was 0.27% below Tuesday’s level but above Monday’s quote, leaving the informal rate on a different path from Vietcombank’s over the two days.
The dollar also weakened against other major currencies as early U.S. midterm election results showed Democratic gains, Reuters reported. The dollar index, which measures the currency against six others, fell 0.3% to 101.4. Reuters said investors moved out of stocks and the dollar and into U.S. Treasuries as the results emerged.
