Vishay Intertechnology True Green LEDs in Tiny SMD 0603 ChipLED Package Increase Design-in Flexibility, Enable Smaller End Products

MALVERN, Pa., June 21, 2017 -- The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE:VSH) today introduced a new series of true green LEDs in a compact surface-mount 0603 ChipLED package. Measuring 1.6 mm by 0.8 mm with an ultra thin 0.55 mm profile, the VLMTG1400 series devices utilize the most recent ultrabright InGaN chip technology to achieve industry-high luminous intensity up to 2,800 mcd.

With their high brightness and small size, the PCB-based devices released today are the perfect choice for small scale products that are expected to work reliably in arduous environments. The LEDs provide designers with increased design-in flexibility and high performance in backlight keypads and displays for navigation systems, cell phones, industrial control systems, and traffic signals and message boards.

The VLMTG1400 series features luminous intensity from 1,200 mcd to 2,800 mcd at 20 mA, a typical wavelength of 525 nm, and forward voltage from 2.75 V to 3.2 V. The devices are grouped by luminous intensity, wavelength, and forward voltage, and they offer an extremely wide viewing angle of 146°. Available in 8 mm tape, the LEDs are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green; compatible with IR-reflow soldering processes; and preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 2a.

Samples and production quantities of the VLMTG1400 series are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
