SHANGHAI, China, Nov. 02, 2016 -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE:VSH) today announced that it will be launching the Vishay Resistors University on Nov. 9-10 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Shenzhen, China. The Vishay Resistors University is an educational program for design engineers and non-engineering partners. Engineers will get access to “cool” resistor technologies and valuable hands-on experience in resistor selection for applications where using the best technology can really make a difference.
The program consists of workshops on a wide range of resistor-related topics. Workshop titles include Basic Design Considerations, Current Sensing, Resistors for Beginners, Sulfur Resistance, Thin Film vs. Thick Film Resistors: Materials and Properties, Pulse Handling Capability, Failure Modes of Resistors, High-Temperature Resistors, Thermal Management, Thermocycling Stability, and Thermistors (Non-Linear Resistors). Workshops will be led by Vishay Intertechnology’s highly skilled and experienced team of field application engineers.
Vishay Intertechnology is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of resistors, with a product portfolio that includes single (discrete) resistors based on thin film, thick film, metal electrode leadless face (MELF), metal oxide film, plastic film, carbon film, and wirewound technologies; Power Metal Strip® resistors; battery management shunts; fuses; and pyrotechnic initiators and igniters. Vishay Intertechnology manufactures resistor networks and arrays, in which multiple resistors are combined in a single package. The Company also manufactures non-linear resistors, which suppress voltage increases due to temperature and voltage changes, as well as variable resistors, including potentiometers, trimmers, sensors, and magnetic encoders.
The Company’s resistor brands include Vishay BCcomponents, Vishay Beyschlag, Vishay Dale, Vishay Draloric, Vishay Electro-Films, Vishay MCB, Vishay Milwaukee, Vishay Sfernice, and others.
“We are proud to announce the launch of the Vishay Resistors University,” said Victor Goh, Senior Director, Business Marketing Asia, Resistors and Inductors. “Vishay Intertechnology is an industry leader in resistor technology, and this program gives us the opportunity to share some of our knowledge with engineers and non-engineers alike. Participants will learn what’s ‘cool,’ what’s ‘hot,’ and a whole lot more about resistor types, technologies, applications, and performance characteristics. We look forward to rolling out the program.”
Following the inaugural session in Shenzhen, there will be a session Nov. 22-23 at the Radisson Hotel in Shanghai. This will be followed by a January 2017 session in Beijing. Free custom workshops can be planned upon request. Further sessions will be held in China during 2017, followed by a rollout of the program in Korea, Japan, and the rest of Asia in 2018.
