Vitality Works Inc. is recalling one lot of 365 Whole Foods Market Ashwagandha Capsules after a retail sample raised a possible Salmonella concern, according to an Oct. 30 company announcement posted by FDA.

Lot 2025-26227 is a 120-count bottle of 365 Whole Foods Market Ashwagandha Capsules, labeled Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend. Its UPC is 9948252099. The lot number and Oct. 13, 2028, expiration date are printed on the bottle’s bottom.

The capsules were available through Amazon.com and at Whole Foods Market stores from Nov. 24, 2025, through Oct. 20, 2026. Whole Foods stores in 30 states and Washington, D.C., received the product. Vitality Works said it had received no illness reports as of Oct. 30.

Salmonella may cause fever and digestive symptoms, including diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Infection can become severe or fatal for young children, frail or older people, and those with weakened immune systems, the announcement says. Vitality Works said a routine check of one retail unit led to the possible contamination being identified.

Customers should stop using the capsules and discard them; Vitality Works says they should not be returned to a store. Whole Foods Market stores offer refunds. Questions can be directed to Vitality Works at (505) 268-9950.
