The Wall Street Journal said a draft prospectus showed about $72 billion of the loss came from accounting charges tied to changes in the estimated value of convertible notes and other fundraising instruments.

A draft prospectus reviewed by The Wall Street Journal and Reuters put Anthropic's first-half 2026 revenue at $16.3 billion and net loss at $80.7 billion, adding financial detail ahead of a proposed IPO.

Revenue totaled $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with $1.1 billion in the same period of 2025, according to the Journal’s review of a draft prospectus. Reuters separately said the draft showed $80.7 billion in net losses for the first half.

According to the Journal, about $72 billion reflected accounting charges tied to changes in the estimated value of convertible notes and other fundraising instruments. Reuters separately reported a $72 billion accounting adjustment tied to bonds convertible into Anthropic shares. The Journal's earlier account put the first-half 2025 loss at $13 billion.

Anthropic did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Anthropic said June 1 that it had confidentially submitted a draft Form S-1 to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), with the share count and offering price unset and any sale dependent on market conditions. The company’s filing plans were detailed in earlier coverage of its proposed IPO.
