Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged human oversight in artificial intelligence governance at Friday’s opening of China’s inaugural Global Governance Forum in Xiongan, placing technology among broader questions of international governance.

Trade, deep-sea activity, polar regions and outer space also featured in the forum agenda. Wang called for stronger governance across several domains, including those areas, as detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of his remarks.

President Xi Jinping introduced the forum last year. Beijing has cast it as part of a push for multilateralism and a more equitable global governance system, reflecting its assessment that current arrangements are deficient.
