Welsh suppliers are using Abu Dhabi’s ADIPEC to pursue Gulf business in energy, marine services and electric-vehicle charging, while a Tomoe Valve executive reports longer waits for final investment approval amid regional uncertainty.
Business Wales says the Welsh Government-backed visit is designed to introduce Welsh products to potential customers and develop international business relationships. Its itinerary covers Oct. 31-Nov. 6, while ADIPEC’s official exhibitor information sets the exhibition for Nov. 2-5.
The National reported that more than 16 Welsh companies attended, representing electric energy, maritime vessels and industrial equipment. Business Wales’ eligible sectors include clean energy, energy or emissions efficiency, energy-market reform and fossil-fuel asset decommissioning.
Tomoe Valve Business Development Director Clive Johns told The National that about 50% of the company’s UK factory capacity is exported to the Middle East, with the UAE its largest market in the region. Johns also told the outlet that Tomoe was considering local partners for assembly and testing.
A Welsh Government profile identifies Tomoe as a Newport butterfly-valve maker exporting to more than 57 countries, with business extending into food production, water treatment and construction. Johns told The National that some regional projects were taking longer to secure final investment approval amid uncertainty, while activity continued.
The National reported that Holyhead Towing Managing Director Dylan Jones put the Middle East at 70% to 75% of the company’s revenue at the time of the interview. He said the company had eight vessels deployed in the region, mostly on energy work.
The National also reported that Clenergy EV Chief Executive William David was seeking UAE partners who understand local customers for the company’s charging infrastructure business. Clenergy said in June 2025 that its UAE and Gulf operations were a year old, with more than 100 sites live and about 1,000 charge points onboarding at the time.
ADIPEC’s schedule ends Nov. 5, and Business Wales lists Nov. 6 as the Welsh trade group’s planned return date.
