Windstream President & CEO Tony Thomas will join co-presenters Cody Bumgardner, assistant professor and director of informatics at the University of Kentucky, and Jan Bates, systems operations director at the University of Kentucky HealthCare. The session will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at the Las Vegas Venetian Convention Center, Lando 4301.
“The FDA approval of digital pathology for primary diagnosis, along with falling costs of whole genome sequencing, will have a dramatic effect on the size and context of patient records,” says Thomas. “Healthcare enterprises will need to prepare their networks, storage, and computational environments for the impact of data elements that are 30 to 60 times larger than digitized radiology images. This session will examine the challenges involved and the IT options for solving those challenges now and into the future.”
Healthcare IT professionals who attend the session will discover the systems requirements of retrieving, sharing and analyzing high-res images within clinical workflows, along with network options for access, analysis, short- and long-term storage, disaster recovery, security and regulatory requirements. Windstream experts in advanced networking will also be on-hand for discussions throughout the conference at booth 12222.
